Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus series can be regarded as the highest-end strengthened glass currently on the market, and the Samsung Galaxy S22 series launched last year was the first mobile phone to use the strengthened version of Victus+. Corning issued a press release yesterday, suggesting that the upcoming Galaxy S23 series will once again become the first mobile phone equipped with Victus 2 strengthened glass.

According to Corning, the main selling point of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is its drop resistance, which can withstand very rough performances, such as dropping concrete from a height of 1 meter and can withstand an impact of up to 2 meters if dropped on the asphalt surface. While improving drop resistance, Corning claims the Victus 2 doesn’t sacrifice glass’s scratch resistance. Victus 2 contains an average of 22% “pre-consumer” recycled materials, so it has obtained “Environmental Requirements Verification.”
Although Corning did not indicate the Galaxy S23 series in the press release, it mentioned long-term cooperation with Samsung and applied innovative technologies to Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones. Samsung also confirmed that its next-generation Galaxy flagships will be the first phones to feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Galaxy Unpacked conference will be held on February 01, US time. In addition to the Galaxy S23 series of mobile phones, the Galaxy Book3 series of notebook products are expected to be announced.
