OPPO Extends the Security update Period for System upgrades

Among the smartphones currently on the market, Apple’s iPhone is believed to have the longest system update period, and Samsung has also begun to follow suit, providing up to 4 generations of system upgrades and 5 years of security updates for some mid-to-high-end and flagship phones. This arrangement is even longer than Google’s mobile phones. Pixel phones currently only provide 3 generations of system updates and 5 years of security updates.

OPPO Extends the Security update Period for System upgrades

Follows in the footsteps of Samsung

OPPO, which has been determined to expand overseas markets in recent years, released the ColorOS 13 system in mid-August this year, which is the fastest system version OPPO has ever launched. Now OPPO is bringing good news to consumers again. Starting in 2023, some flagship models will receive a longer system support period. The same to Samsung’s approach, OPPO plans to provide 4-generation system upgrades and 5-year security renewal.

At present, ColorOS 13 has been pushed to 33 OPPO mobile phones, which is more than 50% more than the previous generation ColorOS 12. In the first 4 months after the system was launched, the proportion of users touched by the new system has been three times higher than that of the previous generation. OPPO is one of the top five in the current mobile phone market. They strengthen system upgrades and security updates. I believe it will bring pressure on competitors. A good thing for consumers is that mobile phones can be used for a longer period without worrying about system security issues.
